Armed Forces Day (June)

National Armed Forces Day is held in June each year. Each year the Community Council organise a flag raising event to show the communities support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets.  Armed Forces Day is also an opportunity to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and the flag raising is always followed by refreshments to allow local school children a chance to talk with members of the British Legion, Royal Naval Association, Air Cadets, Army Cadets and other ex service personnel who may attend.  Originally the service took place outside the Parish Office, but in 2012 it moved to the Memorial Gardens, on Parish Road in Tynant allowing a safer more appropriate space for the service.

Community Horticultural & Craft Show (August)

Organised by a committee of local allotment holders and Community Councillors the annual community horticultural and craft show is held each year at Llantrisant rugby club. It is a lovely afternoon for the local community to catch up with each other and admire the handicrafts and growing skills of friends and family. The show is open to everyone and there is a special section for children. Children may also enter any of the main classes for no fee. If you would like to become involved in helping organise the show or require any further information please email:alison.jenkins@llantrisant.org.uk As well as small monetary awards for each class there are several overall cups and trophies presented each year.

Remembrance Sunday (November)

Local residents, Air Cadets, Brownies, Guides and Explorer Scouts meet each year at the new War Memorial on the Bullring in Llantrisant to remember those who gave their lives so we may live in peace. The service is led by Creighton Lewis, OBE from Tabor Baptist Church.

Christmas Events (December)

In recent years the Community Council has worked with local groups to run Christmas events for the local Communities.  Beddau & Tynant Community Library is the venue for Carol Singing around the Christmas Tree with the Community Wind Band each year in Beddau.  Local residents have worked with the local Councillors to organise an event by the Christmas Tree at the Talbot Green Retail Park.  And the Taff Ely Ramblers have utilised Caerlan Hall for their Mince Pie Walk.
